December 17, 2002 The Honorable Edward M. Kennedy 317 Russell Senate Office Building Washington, DC 20510 RE: Breaux-Hatch letter about the National Institute for Literacy Dear Senator Kennedy: I write to thank you for co-signing the Breaux-hatch letter to Secretaries Paige, Thompson, and Chao asking that the new director of the National Institute for Literacy be chosen for expertise in and commitment to adult education and literacy. I go to class at night at the Community Learning Center in Cambridge. I like this training very much; it will be very useful for me. I would like this program to continue. The National Institute for Literacy is the only national voice for adult literacy, and my teachers say it is important to them. I would like NIFL to keep its focus on adults. Your support of adult education is appreciated. Happy holidays.
Sincerely, Sydney J. Cox
